Whether you\u2019re moving, want a better price, more bandwidth or higher speed, you might be looking to change internet providers. Sometimes you\u2019re just plain unhappy with the company you currently deal with. Whether it\u2019s for your personal internet or business connection, these four points can help to ensure a smooth transition.<\/p>\n

Research<\/span><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

A generation ago, we\u2019d ask a friend who they use for a service, or just open up the yellow pages. Today with social media, it\u2019s easy to research potential internet providers to see details like price and speed offered, as well as read reviews and get a sense of how they treat their customers. Don\u2019t be afraid to do a little digging. The more informed you are, the better choice you\u2019ll make.<\/p>\n

Read the fine print of your current contract. Do they require written notice 30 days in advance to cancel? Are you willing to pay a cancellation fee? Is there one? How much is it? It\u2019s also a good idea to understand the details of any potential internet contract you enter into before signing on the dotted line.<\/p>\n

Plan your switch<\/span><\/strong>:<\/p>\n

Allow for some overlap time. Don\u2019t be too quick to drop one provider on the same day that you pick up the new one. Sometimes technical issues can delay your new connection. If it\u2019s for a business, keep your old connection for an extra month to ensure no down time due to unforeseen glitches. It may cost you another month, but keeping connected to customers will far outweigh that expense.<\/p>\n

Consider the future:<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Will you need faster internet or more bandwidth down the road? Whether you\u2019re a growing business or a growing family, your needs may change. Be sure to choose a provider who can offer what you need as time goes by.<\/p>\n
